Lakes, resorts and more in Khao Sok

Khao Sok is an amazing place in Thailand and many people who go there are even surprised how its not known a little more worldwide. I mean you have Phuket and Pattaya which are probably the 2 best known holiday destination in Thailkand but just does not offer the quality experiece you would get in Khao Sok. I mean evern the resorts give you a different experience than these 2 places. The lakes in Khao Sok are crystal clear which makes great diving and swimming spot. Tree house resorts and even rafthouse resorts on teh lake make this place in my opinion the best place in Thailand.

Right now Khao Sok is the best place to visit, the rain forest has some of the most rarest species of birds in the world with over 500 species, the jungle treks are absolutely amazing. If you would like to see nature at its best, you need to go see Khao Sok.

One thing great about Khao Sok is you can get a great adventure no matter what tours you go on and the resorts are also amazing wheather your staying in a tree house, bugalow or rafthouse, you will feel close to nature. That is one of the beaties about Khao Sok, it is not over developed like many popular places in Thailand and is still a pretty untouched place. The amount of wildlife around is absolutely amazing and its just a place you need to visit once in your lifetime.

The lakes with limestone cliffs have been formed over thousands of years which has created great cliffs for moutain climbing. There are some great climbing routes around Khao sok from beginners to advanced climbers. There is also a number of tours that you can go on like jungle trekking, rubber tubin down the lake, night safari's, bird watching and much more.

So next time you are in Thailand and want a great holiday or even an expat, please give Khao Sok a go, it really is a great place to explore or just sit back and relax while being surrounded by nature.

Nam Taloo Cave, Khao Sok National Park Thailand.

Nam Taloo Cave (or Nam Thalu) in the Khao Sok National Park offers you a chance to see some amazing and unique cave creatures. You can go on cave treks that takes about three hours to complete. The trail follows a lovely creek. It eventually reaches a large entrance to the cave system. The creek flows through the cave and you'll be in shallow water for a while, then deeper water. This is a very popular trek with day trippers from the river area of Khao Sok. On the way to the cave you will go through some thick jungle and limestone formations which is a really great trek.

The Nam Taloo cave has some wonderful formations thought the cave and does have a few tricky area too to makes it a lot more fun, its not dangerous at all but there is parts where you will need to take it slow and steady.

It is not a cave you should go into without a guide and advise from the national park officials as a couple of years ago some people did die in the cave. The park officials told them not to go in as it was raining heavily. I believe 8 people died and only 1 survived as a flash flood came through the cave. So please do not attempt to go in the cave on your own, if you do at least make sure its not raining.

The cave is a save place to go if you follow some of the basic safety practices, wear some proper shoes as it can be slippery, make sure you have a water proof torch, a basic first aid kit, if you go with a guide he should definitely have one with him.

The Nam Taloo cave is probably one of the best caved to venture through in Thailand, so next time your in Khao Sok I highly recommend you see it.

Rock Climbing in Khao Sok National Park Thailand

There are many places for rock climbing lovers in Southeast Asia. If you think of rock climbing in Thailand, we often heard of Krabi, Phi Phi, Ko Lanta, Railey or Phang Nga. I want to recommend a new rock climbing spot in southern Thailand where is not far from those popular places.

Khao Sok is especially great for deep water soloing which means you climb up a cliff face and have water below. Climbing up with no rope or other equipment lets you climb more frrely and is easier. There are many routes from beginners to advanced climbers.

To climb in Khao Sok you do not need any experience at all. The beginners routes they have is very basic and not very high. And if you fall there is no danger as thefresh water in Khao sok has no rock oysters to cut yourself, no sharp barnacles or anything like that. Not just that, but Khao sok jas a abundant of wildlife around and does make your climbing experience just that better.

For hard-core mountain climbers who want to push their limits, that choice is also available. New routes are constantly being made. First ascents are limitless.

You could really spend a lifetime climbing all the new routes in Khao Sok National Park. In other words, there is almost unlimited mountain climbing potential in Khao Sok National Park .

Railay beach is probably more familiar to tourists as a great soloing climbing place in Thailand, it does also offer specatular views and always has new routes being made available, but Khao Sok climbing routes are on a much bigger scale and the holdings and rock formations just can not be match by Railay. So if your in Thaialnd are want to experience climbing in the rainforest surrounded by nature, then Khao Sok is the place to go.

My wife and I are experienced climbers and we frequently spend a few of the days climbing around Thailand. We want to spend the rest of the time relaxing when we are not climbing during those days this is really a great place to do both.

Different style of Resorts in Khao Sok

Thailand have many great resorts for barain prices and also have many other resorts different style of resorts around the country. Their is a special type of accommodation in Khao Sok

While their is plenty of 4 and 5 star resorts around Thailand, that look like any others around the world, Thailand do have their own special hotels around, in Khao Sok which is one of the most diverse rain forests in the world have mostly tree house accommodation. These are not your average tree house that you would expect from your chold hoog, but really cozy accommodation with the comforts like any other hotel in the country. Most of them include shower, some even kicthens, just like you would expect from a hotel anywhere else in the world. While they do have them in other parts of Thailand, I have not seen any as well built as in Khao Sok, most of the resorts are well maintained and are in good shape.

But as Khao Sok is still one of the most untouched places in Thailand right now, their are great places to see while being with a vast amount of wildlife and nature, the sheer amount of different species of animals around in amazing and has over 500 different bird species too.
With the treehouses, its the perfect way to stay in such a beautiful place. When you are in Khao Sok, you really just feel like your part of the jungle, it is one of the most underated place on earth and is a once in a lifetime experience.

So next time you in Thailand or South East Asia, try and visit Khao Sok for a week or so, it will be better than what you would ever expect and you will walk away with some great memories, it is really a place you need to visit once in your lifetime.
